I am really thankful your suggestion about the materials on VSA, though I find the stuff theory somewhat challenging to grasp but I hope with a little time I would be able to grasp it better.

Yeah, the volatility is a problem sometimes. Earlier I used to have 1:2 RRR but nowadays, I have started taking 1:3.
I had some problems regarding the volatility. Though I am a fan of having very tight stop loss, but sometimes I move them to half of my target level because of volatility when I cant help it. The only solution I found was that I started being more patient and entering only at market extreme points where I can almost guarantee that price will move in my favour.
Once my bias is done, I look out for patterns like Inside Bar Breakouts, Bearish/Bullish Engulfings, Pinball Reversals and things like that which can add more confirmation to my bias. That has helped me overcome this problem a bit.
And then I like moving my SL to break even (No loss point) as soon as the price reaches 30%-50% of my target.
This is the approach which I am using lately and found that it has helped a bit.

Still plugging away. I'm pretty much a BE trader at this time, but I'm working on a thing or two and learning daily. For me this is progress. So all is good.

I'm from Chattanooga, Tennessee. I'm a traveling construction superintendent. I've been on the road for 6 years. I'm in Houston now. I don't see home for 90+ days at a time. I've been out your way Pagosa Springs on one job and Fruita on another; beautiful country. I'm also looking to take up trading full time. I've got a dozen or so years left to make the transition; the sooner the better though. I'm still hanging in there but tired of the constant babysitting of grown men. You know how it goes.
