About Me

  • About David Waring
    Biography
I was raised in a small town in North Carolina called Roanoke Rapids. My father was always big into investing and while not an active trader got me interested in investing and the stock market at a very young age. So I guess you could say that I have pretty much always had an interest in the markets, and because of this I decided to study Finance at East Carolina University (ECU), where I went to college. ECU is located in the town of Greenville, also in North Carolina, so besides the once a year trip to see grandparents in Michigan, Virgina, or Arizona, I spent my entire childhood and early adult life in North Carolina.

After graduating from college I decided I wanted to pursue a career that was closely related to the markets. Becoming a traditional stock broker or working as a commercial banker, were pretty much my options at the time in North Carolina. After doing a few interviews, I decided that this was not what I wanted to do, so I decided to pack my bags and move to New York City.

To make a long story short, once in New York I got an interview with an Internet Start-up called FXCM, which at the time had about 15 people at the firm. While not a very impressive office at the time, the CEO of the firm Drew Niv (who was around 28 at the time) was one of the people who interviewed me. I was so impressed with his knowledge of the markets and his vision for the future of the Foreign Exchange Market, that I decided to take the job when it was offered to me.

Over the next 7 years I worked my way up from a customer service/sales position to what we turned into a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week customer service and sales operation. Although young, since I was one of the early people at the firm, I was given the opportunity to run that division, which is how I spent my first several years at FXCM.

Towards the latter part of my time there I split my time managing a team of business development professionals who were responsible for a large part of FXCM's web strategy, and managing a separate team of analysts/traders who were responsible for building FXCM's managed funds division. This was the role that I enjoyed the most, as it allowed me to combine my love of the internet with my love of the markets. As you can probably see now, this also laid the groundwork for what you see here today, in InformedTrades.com.

In November of 2007 after seeing the firm grow from 15 employees, to the over 600 that it has today, I decided that it was time for me to pursue a new challenge. So, with the help of a friend and colleague who I met at FXCM, Informed Trades.com was officially launched in January of 2008.

While I certainly do not consider myself a trading guru, I feel that my knowledge of the markets and the trading industry, puts me in a unique position to build a strong community of knowledgeable traders, who understand that trading is hard, and not a get rich type of thing as it is so often portrayed. I also feel that once we have a core community as we are starting to develop now, my knowledge of the internet can help bring that community together, in the most efficient and powerful way possible, so that each member gets the maximum benefit from the collective knowledge of the community.

While there is also a profit component of this site, I think you will find that, unlike most sites who ruin the experience by loading up on advertising, any advertising that is done here at InformedTrades, will be in the background and to the benefit of the community. If you are interested in a more in depth discussion of this at the link below:

Hi David, are you still actively managing this site? I came across your youtube clips on trading and has since caught my full attention!! I am a new trader who is looking for a mentor. I would like to know if you would take on students personally. I work full-time; however, my current position allows me to have access to computer all the time (yes, for checking the market!). My goal in trading is to achieve financial freedom that will allow me to move closer to my family and pursuit my many hobbies (ie. interior design, cooking etc). I would love to discuss some trading strategies with you. I look to hear from you. Thanks! Tommy PS: I live in Edmonton, Canada. Mountain time zone.

    Hey David,
I just got started with Forex with real money. i watched all your videos for trading on youtube and have to say you were a big help. i started with the demo Fxcm account and lost a few hundred dollars trying to find trends or fighting them so i researched some more and more from elliot waves to buffets strategy. till i started making profits every single day making between 5-15 trades a day and about 3-7% return trading multi-frame trend line ups using macd and emas alone with fibonacci ratios. I definitely find that i am a bearish trader accounting for almost 95% of my trades and don't understand why i find it more probable. i trade mostly technicals and avoid news releases at all costs. although i am thinking about using oco for news releases with small lots. the only thing thats really holding me back is the psychology. what i mean is stopping at a certain profit target. however i find this game to be a big help:
    http://chartgame.com/play.cgi?8s8fw1
time lapsing and trying to get the highest percentage in a half hour. haha i wish trading were really like that game. but so far so good trading my first week thanks David

    Hi David,

I want to talk to you about Fx market, how the price is created .
I started to look at the tick time frame an i saw that price doesn't move in fixed fractions of time. All the buy and sell orders are gather at Interbank, and the difference between them , let's say more buy capital moves the market up?
    For example:

Let's assume that now there are 1000k buying pressure and 750k selling pressure.
    Market moves up 250k ?
My question is how many pips?

    Thank you very much.

    Hi David,

I'm a new trader looking to open a mini account. But the problem is I live in the west coast to be exact Vancouver, Canada. Due to the regulations here, choices on a forex broker is very limited. I was wondering if you would have any suggestions on what I should do?

    Thank you.

David--Very impressed by your site. I have a question and thought you might be able to point me in the right direction. I have just begun daytrading after about 4 month of preparation and I am looking for a poker coach that is familiar with the Lightspeed platform. If you know anyone using the platform that would be interested in a mentoring session please let me know. I am of course willing pay for the lesson.

    Thank you,

The Forex MegaDroid has been developed by John Grace and Albert Perrie. Both are forex traders with 38 years 4x trading experience between them. As close friends, over time they firmed up their thoughts about developing their own 4x trading software robot.

Sadly the Forex MegaDroid has a horrid sales page like all the others do - which initially was a big turn off for me.

It's exactly the look and feel you'd expect from a used car salesman with sleazy tactics. It is so tacky that I expected to be reporting here that their 4x software product is a disgrace. But during my research of them, I was forced to reconsider my first impressions. The proven, ongoing live testing results confirm this.

In all of the live-account testing I have seen, there is no question that it performs exceptionally well. They claim better than a 95% successful trade rate - which I doubted very much - but it's true. I have seen the proof many times.

Visit Forex Robots Reviewed by clicking the link below to see links to live 4x trading accounts of this 4x software in action.

This guy bought his MegaDroid, installed it easily, and opened live forex trading accounts with 3 different brokers. In each account he put $3,000. From each account ID, he gave his MegaDroid the data feed from each broker. The robot can then execute trades on his accounts.

He set his limits of risk he was happy with per the training. And then he sat and watched. He is a novice trader. He has just started out. He did nothing more than install it, set it on the default risk levels. Then he just watched and let it do its thing.

At the time of writing that review (May 14, 2009) - his 3 different broker accounts (using the one copy of MegaDroid) had made 37 trades.

Of the 37 trades, 36 made a profit - only 1 trade lost money - $7.36. For the 24 days trading till just then (on fully automatic) - his net profit is $1,067.15.

I am impressed by that. As of May 14, 2009 that's 97.3% profitable trades.

Also it is important to note the $/trade profit versus the $/trade loss. The 36 profitable trades were for an average of $29.85 profit each trade. As said, the 1 losing trade was for $7.36.

So, that's 36:1 profit to lose ratio on the number of trades. And a 4:1 ratio on the size of profits compared to losses.

My view is that even if a trader was expert and smart enough to do what the MegaDroid has demonstrated here, no human could concentrate long enough and consistently enough to match the performance.

Still not impressed? Then look at other live 4x trading account on the website Forex Robots Reviewed (link below).

MegaDroid $10,000 opening balance January 1, 2009 LIVE

As of May 14, 2009 it has now got a balance of $78,138.70. 103 trades - 101 trades made a profit. Look at the profit graph - sorry you have to visit the web page to get the link to the live 4x trading account.

Through the years of Forex trading John and Albert did realize that most Forex robot systems were designed and developed with only a single forex market condition in mind.

While this maybe true, I don't really care - I just want it to make money reliably and safely.

Every Forex trader does know that the forex market changes all the time. It is clear from real proof that the MegaDroid Forex Trading Robot has a system built into it that embraces this change.

The vendors claim this system has been successfully created to perform at 95.82% accuracy. What I have witnessed from real traders doing real trading it performs better than that. The novice is seeing 97.3%, and the professional is seeing just slightly better than 98%.

But don't rush off an buy Megadroid just yet. There are some important facts you need to know - so visit Forex Robots Reviewed to find out all about it.

You'll see the link below. Click it now if you want to make some serious money.

Hi All,

Its hard to believe that its been almost two years since I left my job and started building InformedTrades with my longtime friend and business associate Simit Patel. As Simit recently stated on the homepage of our community, now that our community is to a stage where there are many other heavy contributors besides myself, I have decided to shift my focus to InformedFunds.com my money management business.

I am very proud of what has been accomplished by the InformedTrades...

Hi All,

Quick update on my S&P analysis from the 14th (bottom of the page).

The above analysis was done on the SPY which is the symbol for the Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) which tracks the price action in the S&P 500 index which is what you see in the chart below. The difference between these two charts is that the below chart is not tradable outside of an index mutual fund so most traders use the SPY to express their bias in the S&P 500 Index which you can see below:...
