About Me

  • About David Waring
    Biography
I was raised in a small town in North Carolina called Roanoke Rapids. My father was always big into investing and while not an active trader got me interested in investing and the stock market at a very young age. So I guess you could say that I have pretty much always had an interest in the markets, and because of this I decided to study Finance at East Carolina University (ECU), where I went to college. ECU is located in the town of Greenville, also in North Carolina, so besides the once a year trip to see grandparents in Michigan, Virgina, or Arizona, I spent my entire childhood and early adult life in North Carolina.

After graduating from college I decided I wanted to pursue a career that was closely related to the markets. Becoming a traditional stock broker or working as a commercial banker, were pretty much my options at the time in North Carolina. After doing a few interviews, I decided that this was not what I wanted to do, so I decided to pack my bags and move to New York City.

To make a long story short, once in New York I got an interview with an Internet Start-up called FXCM, which at the time had about 15 people at the firm. While not a very impressive office at the time, the CEO of the firm Drew Niv (who was around 28 at the time) was one of the people who interviewed me. I was so impressed with his knowledge of the markets and his vision for the future of the Foreign Exchange Market, that I decided to take the job when it was offered to me.

Over the next 7 years I worked my way up from a customer service/sales position to what we turned into a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week customer service and sales operation. Although young, since I was one of the early people at the firm, I was given the opportunity to run that division, which is how I spent my first several years at FXCM.

Towards the latter part of my time there I split my time managing a team of business development professionals who were responsible for a large part of FXCM's web strategy, and managing a separate team of analysts/traders who were responsible for building FXCM's managed funds division. This was the role that I enjoyed the most, as it allowed me to combine my love of the internet with my love of the markets. As you can probably see now, this also laid the groundwork for what you see here today, in InformedTrades.com.

In November of 2007 after seeing the firm grow from 15 employees, to the over 600 that it has today, I decided that it was time for me to pursue a new challenge. So, with the help of a friend and colleague who I met at FXCM, Informed Trades.com was officially launched in January of 2008.

While I certainly do not consider myself a trading guru, I feel that my knowledge of the markets and the trading industry, puts me in a unique position to build a strong community of knowledgeable traders, who understand that trading is hard, and not a get rich type of thing as it is so often portrayed. I also feel that once we have a core community as we are starting to develop now, my knowledge of the internet can help bring that community together, in the most efficient and powerful way possible, so that each member gets the maximum benefit from the collective knowledge of the community.

While there is also a profit component of this site, I think you will find that, unlike most sites who ruin the experience by loading up on advertising, any advertising that is done here at InformedTrades, will be in the background and to the benefit of the community. If you are interested in a more in depth discussion of this at the link below:

I hope you find this site useful in your quest for trading knowledge. If you have any questions or comments about anything relating to this site or trading, please feel free to post them at the link below:

For some traders, they prefer to use the forex indicators to make some trading decisions. They spend hours in front of the computers to observe the movements of the indicators to make sure that they have already made the perfect decision. For them, they accuracy on examining the indicators is the life of their trading sessions. Once they made mistake, it would be a bit hard to recover.

Some traders are using the forex indicators to see the forex signal. The signal gives them some hints to make a decision. Most of the traders prefer to combines some forex indicators. These forex indicators would give them some forex signals combination. They need to determine the direction of the market to make some decision. Are they going to buy, or they want to get the sell position? The decision could be made after they see and examine the forex indicators.

Those traders realized that not all the time those signal forex combinations are correct. They might make misjudge of a movement of the market that surely might impact the whole trading process. To avoid this situation, those traders should really understand about the forex indicators. This is the best way to eliminate some mistakes that might be done.

Hi All,

Its hard to believe that its been almost two years since I left my job and started building InformedTrades with my longtime friend and business associate Simit Patel. As Simit recently stated on the homepage of our community, now that our community is to a stage where there are many other heavy contributors besides myself, I have decided to shift my focus to InformedFunds.com my money management business.

I am very proud of what has been accomplished by the InformedTrades...

Hi All,

Quick update on my S&P analysis from the 14th (bottom of the page).

The above analysis was done on the SPY which is the symbol for the Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) which tracks the price action in the S&P 500 index which is what you see in the chart below. The difference between these two charts is that the below chart is not tradable outside of an index mutual fund so most traders use the SPY to express their bias in the S&P 500 Index which you can see below:...
