Bloomberg: Stocks in Europe, Asia Fall; MSCI World Index Drops for 5th Day - The MSCI World Index fell 1.7 percent to 887.14 at 12:57 p.m. in London, Europe’s Dow Jones Stoxx 600 Index sank 2.5 percent, and Standard & Poor’s 500 Index futures slipped 0.7 percent as oil prices dragged down commodity producers and Alcoa Inc. said demand for aluminum may weaken.

Marketwatch: Dollar and yen rise as global equities slide - The dollar index traded at 83.536, up from 83.105 in late North American trading on Monday as falling global equity markets translated into gains for the Japanese yen and the U.S. dollar.

CNNMoney: Oil nears $36 a barrel - U.S. light crude for February delivery fell 84 cents to $36.75 a barrel, as further signs the world economy was slowing sharply dampened demand expectations.

Marketwatch: Gold extends losses on stronger dollar - Gold for February delivery was last down $2.50, or 0.3%, at $818.50 an ounce, as a stronger U.S. dollar reduced the metal's appeal as an investment alternative.
