Default Lesson of the Day: Comparing this Bear Market to Past Bear Markets

Good video from Dr. Barry Burns over at Topdogtrading.com which gives us some history on past bear markets and compares the current price action of today's market.

Default Excellent video

Very interesting video, gives a good perspective on historical drops and time frames.

One minor quible, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is an (adjusted) sum of only the prices of the 30 stocks that make it up. It doesn't take into account dividends. Thus in the example he gave where there was no increase in the DJIA over 10 years, the long term investor would actually have profited to the extent of dividends paid.

Hey Alan,

Glad to hear from you and welcome to the community.

Its a good point that you make and one that myself and I am sure others had not thought about when watching that video so thanks for pointing it out.

Best Regards,
Dave
