btw, the've increased their silver production recently (galena mine / idaho) and hopefully also their cash flow + profits => let's wait till the silver price rises few bucks higher + the folks out there will bid for everything what smells like silver as brain dead lemmings
... they always do when prices skyrocket, don't they?
ps: do not forget the gold ... (~ GOLD! not GLD)

addendum, 08-05-2009: damned stupid!
folks, i've missed the right silver company just by 1 place in my portfolio list!
well, us silver rose a little bit (+7%), but the proper silver guys are their name-neighbors uc resources!!! they rocketed +45% today (intraday even +55%). what about the volume? yep, 18 times the usual heap i.e. 3.9m shares instead of 200k. what makes our poor homo sapiens financialis that crazy? is there any possible explanation? well, they've announced:
UC Resources has Commenced Drilling at McFaulds Lake, 9:14 AM ET, August 4, 2009
whaaaaat? they've just started drilling? they didn't find anything yet? my dear, it's august now, the drilling season mostly over! hell, that's damned late 2 start drilling @ some stupid lake!!!
btw, what's your opinion? maybe there are some folks who know more than that
or maybe even mr. market himself!
ps: explorer stocks are so crazy & sometimes sooooo exciting :-)
pps: still remember vg gold? they're +11.77% today and they have been +127% on a day when rob mcewen announced an investment in vg gold => closing quote today? @ CAD0.38

Hey,
I bought some U.S. Silver two weeks ago, but I made a critical mistake by buying it on a German exchange. It was going up and the spreads were just too high, so I couldn't get a good price. Then I told my broker to move the shares to a USA storage, which cost me 20 euros and the process won't be done until friday. In the meantime U.S. Silver is going down, and gold and silver are showing a bit of weakness today. 1 oz gold @ $1,500? IMO there is everything possible in today's crazy financial markets, isn't it? if the overindebted governments and their small dirty central banks increase the monetary base e.g. 3 times, why shouldn't the current gold price also multiply 3 times or even break the $3,000 level?
well, there is often a huuuuuge spread and low volume for canadian / u.s. / australian precious metals microcaps on germany's stock exchanges ... nevertheless, i do mostly order my stocks in germany because of the low commisions here and therefore do sometimes overpay the 'translated' u.s./canadian price.... but there were also purchases well under the converted price from home markets (10-20% in both directions are in microcaps not unusual)

wanna sell your u.s. silver shares? how many + at what price? i would like to buy few more without these 'deadly' spreads (yesterday €0.074 vs. €0.097 on the frankfurt stock exchange) but i'm sure my wife will kill me if she discovers i would like to plunder our funds of last resort again. hell, i should get my july salary tomorrow! should i invest part of that paper wealth into real (silver) wealth immediately?
btw, why want you sell them? IMHO we are still in a very beginning of a huuuuge (inflation driven) precious metals rally

Yes, invest now. Time is not so important for commodities right?.. Since their price will go up and up only and they wont loose their value. Every body likes gold. Man, if i told my father to buy 500k of gold in 2000. Now he would be rich $$$$. Damn. Nevermind then, once i got my capital i'll buy sliver and gold futures as well as some uranium ores to make nuclear warheads

I didn't want to invest in this stock, it was just supposed to be a swing trade, I saw what Barry Burns calls a rubber band setup, and it almost worked except I wasn't able to sell the stock because of those silly spreads. Now it's to late as the price is down again, and my broker told me that the transfer of the stock to the USA is done until friday.
I hope gold silver and this stock will be going up the next week, I don't want a trade to turn into an investment.
By the way, my broker is E*Trade Germany, trading U.S. stocks there costs even a bit less than trading on one of the German exchanges, it's a 10euro flat rate.Posted 07-29-2009 at 04:54 AM by freiheit

a flatrate of 10 €uros per trade? wow, that's sounds gooooood ... i do pay usually €11.60 commission per trade @ my online broker dab-bank for small purchase orders, bigger ones are even more expensive ... i thought e-trade is just a daytrading platform (fx, etc.) and wouldn't suppose they provide also the small u.s. or canadian companies :-)
let's look @ e-trade next time ... of course, just in case i should manage some additional funds 4 investing

btw, how much is the commission 4 standard european shares like the german dax titles @ e-trade? .... aaaaaand do they provide also margin accounts?

crazy micro-caps :-)
folks,
watching my portfolio's pennystocks is like lottery. who will be lucky and who not? few of today's highlights:
- qimonda +47.92% (my guess: still highly bankruptcy endangered chip producer and (worldwide?) technology leader ... i think it is also the last european chip producer for some special chips at all, but qimonda wasn't big & important enough to get bailouted by german government or some european funds ... well, europe prefers 2 bailout 'soooo neeeded' bankrupt car makers, department stores + banks .... aaaaand thus 2 buy their computer & mobile devices chips in asia instead. IMO is qimonda a no buy anyway!)
- scorpio mining +27.27% (my guess: healthy! no company related news 2day, but 5 times the usual trading volume => . folks, that's my 2nd biggest portfolio position! i think after german market re-adjusts the late canadian price movements it will prolly become my #1 by volume tomorrow
- sterling mining, also +27.27% (my guess: even if they won some legal issue on lease rights 4 the sunshine silver mine / idaho recently, they're still highly bankruptcy endangered, no buy!)
- vg gold +11.84% (no guess as i don't understand what's going on there . btw, u still remember their geyser-like advancement into thin air highs after rob mcewen's investment? yep? that stock is up +396.43% in the last 30 days according 2 my broker's software and +89.89% compared 2 my initial purchase price ...)

well, that was a BAAAAAD quarterly report @ u.s. silver yesterday :-(
hell, a small loss even at these really high silver prices, cash costs per ounce increased from $11 to $13 ...
oh my dear! my mexican and peruvian producers have cash costs of approx $3 - $6, my base metals producers with silver as by-product abt $1 (@ scorpio mining i think) and there was also a company which has reported cash costs for silver of MINUS $5. silver for -5 usd? folks, got it? that's much, much, much better than silver for free! if they sold all their zinc, led, copper, they've made a profit above $5 and still have all that shiny silver on top! ... well, i didn't remember the name of that company, i think it was prolly one from the trio endeavor silver, 1st majestic silver, fortuna silver ... but i could be wrong on that ... you know, i have more than 30 silver companies in my portfolio as i can't store all of them in a single watch list @ tsx website
hell, let's hope the metal prices in Q4 will support u.s. silver a lot + their stock price will skyrocket soon + i will reach the winning zone again (btw, even if the last purchase shows a profit of abt 13% i'm still abt 15% down on u.s. silver)
