Simon, I am after forex rate alerts and maybe some tech indicators.

Alertfx seem useful but do not send texts only emails - I have a phone which can not be configured for email unfortunately :-(

I am currently trialling mobile4x.com so will see how that goes.
drpete,

If you want simple alerts based on techincal indicators, the MetaTrader platform is probably your best option. It's free and you have tons of brokers to choose from.

You can download a demo account from any broker, then use the demo account to supply your alerts regardless of where you place the live trades. As David mentioned, most cell phone companies will deliver text messages sent to specific email addresses. This link gives you the information for all providers:Send a Text Message

One of my customers likes to trade the euro session but does not want to get out of bed unless the price crosses the 200 EMA. He only looks at the market if he gets the text message alert sent from MetaTrader. Otherwise, he gets a good night's sleep.

Regardless of which charting package you select, almost all of them support this email-to-text message feature.
