Hi all.

This is a wonderful site. I found it while searching for how to read candlestick charts on youtube and I must say that this is by far the best trade learning resource I have found out there. I'm currently going through the basics course and I've learned so much over the past few days!

Anyways, I have two reasons for typing this:

1. I've never really been an active part of a community and I would like that to change as I further my education.

and

2. I think it would be pretty great to get to know all of you fellow active forum folk. I've been reading a few posts just to get an idea of what the community is like and you all seem like great people.

Anyways, thanks for reading. I'll probably be popping in and out and posting questions once in a while when I get stumped.

Look for Lance Beggs's candle course on YT. It's one of the best one's on there IMO

Good luck!!!

Welcome, kkud! I think as you move through all the vast resources IT has to offer, you will be even more impressed!

Indeed, there are few trading sites with the scope, depth and true sense of community than IT.

If the answers you seek aren't here already, SOMEONE will know where to find them! Best of luck on your journey... Start slow, be a sponge, ask questions, and SHARE your own observations... you'll be amazed how much you can lean in a short amount of time!

Thanks for the welcomes and replies. I will no doubt take the learning in strides and be the best sponge I can be. To be honest, before I even started attempting to learn how to trade, I always had the assumption that the whole aspect of trading was very boring and that you just buy low and sell high.

However, it's really fun now that I'm actually taking the time to learn and see the different aspects of it. I enjoy learning of indicators and the little technical details in charts that my past eyes would always have overlooked or just dismissed because I wasn't interested/didn't know much about how trading worked.

Also, thank you Power Broker for the tip on that course, I will definitely check that out after I finish the final module on the beginner's course. I'm always willing to learn more. Candles are actually my favorite type of chart so far!

Hi kkudumu

If you are not already trading, you can virtual trade for practice. It works just like real trading only it uses virtual money. It's free to do this (there is a link on the bottom of my post).

Keep going though all the vids on this site.
I will also 2nd the recommendation for Lance Beggs as well.

Cheers
Tek

In my 3 years here, the one course you should sit through before you die is learning to read the tape, masterfully designed by top member Magic. I've never seen any other member here put in this much effort and passion into striving to share his knowledge. Sadly he's gone, but his legacy remains so make well use of it.

Thanks for the tips and welcomes! I actually haven't begun real trades yet. My capital right now is very very small and limited($200-$500). I'm still trying to figure out what investments would have more of a quicker return on a small starting capital like mine. I was leaning on investing in stocks but I'm not quite sure how well they would work out for me trying to build up cash for better investments.

I have been virtual trading with optionsxpress for a little under 2 weeks now but I am quickly learning that the commission there will eat me up, so I've opened an account with tradeking where the commission is slightly cheaper(but I don't think they have as much versatility). So far, the few stocks I've picked have been really cheap penny stocks but they've shown small increases over this week, which is great...but I'm not quite sure if that's because I correctly read the few charts/indicators and made an informed decision...or if I got lucky. No matter how much money I make, If I feel like I don't deserve it/earned it, then I won't be happy with the return. I suppose it's only knowledge I can learn in time and comes with experience.

My actual plan when I get started would be to make trades set for a time period of 1 week and monitor them 20 minutes a day or so.(not sure if this is smart or not.) As I get to the trade plan and management part of the beginner course, I'm sure that I'll have a more firm grasp on what I should do with my current funds.

As far as magic's course, It looks amazing. I'm definitely adding it to my list. Thank you for the suggestion!

Thanks STL. After I read your post, I was compelled to do some extra research on forex vs. stocks and futures.

I was blown away at what I found! It seems like there is a lot less things to keep track of as far as searching for what instrument to trade. When I can actually get into forex trading, by the way the article was describing the advantages, It would seem that I wouldn't be killing myself with what to choose when I trade.

Because that was what was killing me with stocks. There were SO MANY to choose from and I didn't know what search parameters to enter into the stock screener. I've been spending the last 2 weeks studying stocks. I just need to tell myself that it wasn't a waste of time because no knowledge is a waste!

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
