Default will usd weaken in the new year?

so, it's pretty obvious that things are quite bad in the u.s. (not to say they are not bad in other places as well) i have been thinking, would it make any sense whatsoever to consider that maybe the people (the 'herd') are being mislead to believe that things are actually better than they are (more so than usual) just to bring in all the cash that flows around the holidays? i mean if people thought times were hard they would surely cut back on there spending. and holidays being such a pivotal time for businesses and all; it just makes me wonder.
when i say misled i simply mean uniformed to the truth of things (mainly by means of there so called 'news' sources)
just thought i would throw this thought out there... it may seem ridiculous to some (in fact, it may be ridiculous) but i like to wonder about conspiracies/ what goes on "behind the curtiain" (as martin armstrong put's it)

In my view, it will.
The Gov will probably pass the extension of Bush tax cuts. Despite the ongoing opinion from some that cutting revenue somehow increases it, extending tax cuts adds to the deficit problem by quite a lot. Also in the bill is cutting payroll taxes which reduces Gov income in that the Gov will now be forced to borrow to make up a now Social Security deficit for the first time ever in our history.

This only compounds the ongoing fiscal problems the US has, so in my view, the passing of this bill will cause the USD to get weaker in the few days/weeks after.

Cheers
Tek

Tek, paying higher taxes would maybe acceptable if they were used to actually pay down the deficit and not to go into bills with ear marks to payoff supporters of crooked politicans. There for im one of those who are of the opionion that cutting revenue increases it.

good point tek, thanks for informing me as to some fundamentals
to clarify what i was trying to get at in my original post; i don't think holiday spending is what it is in the u.s. anywhere else around the world. american culture really plays up the holidays as a time to spend money really, which is why i pondered the idea of the people being mislead only to ensure strong holiday spending
