MT4 and Prorealtime

Hi,

I'm new to informed trades but really loving the site so far. Just wondering what the difference between Prorealtime and MT4 is? Do they do the same thing and they are competitors or do they do different things and can be used in conjunction with each other?

Thanks

Hi Unreg

Prorealtime is a charting package. It costs money, but they have a free version with end of day data that is pretty good. I use it myself to check end of day data on stocks. (I have a watch list I scroll through).

MT is a trading platform that works with most brokers. It's free.

So basically, you would be using one of these for your charts, because they have way more features and abilities than the charts that your broker provides.

I am not really an expert on either, but you can do a lot of the same things on both of these, such as programing Expert Advisors (automated trading), programing custom indicators, backtesting (testing your system using historical data to see how it would have worked in the past), etc.

Cheers
Tek

Thanks for that Tek,

Why do people use prorealtime if they can't trade with it and they can get the same thing from a trading platform? Does that make FXCM and Thinkorswim brokers and then they supply a trading platform like MT4.

Thanks

Because Proreattime has a lot of other features as well. Not sure what they all are though.

You can get MT4 lots of places and its free.

Not quite sure what you are asking here, but both are brokers and you can use MT4 with either.

Cheers
