Does anyone know of an area that has some good video tutorials for TOS? Also interested in knowing if anyone would be up for teaching me some some basics (for a fee of course). My computer literacy is growing, but am a bit overwhelmed by the platform. I am attempting to import some idicators and a template and have struggled.

Thanks

ThinkOrSwim Training

Sphereless,

Here's some online training for the TOS platform:
TDA / Investools Webcast Archives
TOS Learning Center
TOS paperMONEY
TOS Tutorials

Also, if you have a trading account through ThinkOrSwim or TD Ameritrade you have access to both live video seminars and their archives in the TOS platform by using the SupportChat button: SupportChat > Seminars. The seminars are listed chronologically.

Automatic Opening Range and Fibonacci Levels

I've found an AutoFibLevels indicator that generates Fibonacci Levels based on the daily opening range from the ReadTheProspectus.com website. The code description can be found at: Automatic Opening Range and Fibonacci Levels for Think or Swim I've modified the original code to include custom chart bubbles. Attached are both the original code and my modified version of it.

Volume Zone Oscillator (VZO)

I came across an article in a trading journal (IFTA - International Federation of Technical Analysts - Journal) 2009 Edition, page 18 that caught my attention. I developed a simple code that I may further develop and I've attached it for those who would like to see if this is indicator can help them. Also attached is the section of the journal that explains in detail the background and use of this indicator. See attached documents.

Better Volume Indicator

Here's a volume indicator that states it can reveal the sentiment of the market by coloring its volume bars. Better Volume Indicator which was originally developed by Barry Taylor at EminiWatch. Here is the color code legend:
Quote:
Yellow - Low volume for the size of the bar - Amateurs at work
White - Climax down
Blue -Climax up
Red - Churn - Pros buying at lows or unloading at highs
Magenta - Climax Churn - Pros taking profits at highs or lows
Gray - Normal (default) Bar

See the attached code and documentation. Also here are some YouTube videos on using it.

For those of you who prefer a different approach, I've modified the code to use the same criteria to color the price bars and not use the volume histogram. See my attached code.

I know absolutely nothing about writing code or programming language. How would someone place the script you posted into meta trader?

Thanks for an interesting post. You are truly indefatigable (my word of the month) in your pursuit of all things programming.

The Complete Beginnerís Guide to Using Custom Thinkscripts

Rather than having to compile information on how to place indicator code into the TOS script editor, I'll make reference to an excellent website that has an explanation already posted. Take a look at The Complete Beginnerís Guide to Using Custom Thinkscripts. Also there a QuickTime video from ThinkScripter that exlplains How To Load Indicators Into ThinkOrSwim. You can also find help from The thinkScript Resource Center under Basic Operations with Studies and Strategies.

This discussion forum handles issues for ThinkOrSwim; however, IT does have a forum for MetaTrader if that's what you need. As for MetaTrader, you can find indicators and installation instructions at: MetaTrader Indicators Userís Tutorial
