InformedGold is "virtual gold" you can purchase with your InformedPoints. Each unit of InformedGold is loosely pegged to 1/200th of an ounce of gold. Example:
1. Let's say an ounce of gold costs $1,000 USD. 2. Since InformedPoints are pegged to US dollars at a rate of 10:1, that means $1,000 US dollars is equal to 10,000 InformedPoints. 3. If 10,000 InformedPoints buys you an ounce of gold, and InformedGold is 1/200th an ounce of gold, that means that InformedGold costs approximately 50 InformedPoints (10,000/200). The price of InformedGold is updated several times a day based on the real price of spot gold. A variable markup is added to generate income for InformedTrades LLC. How To Use InformedGold It's simple to get started with InformedGold. Here's how: 1. After you've acquired some InformedPoints, head on over to the InformedTrades Store, where you can buy InformedGold -- click here to go to the product page for InformedGold. 2. Of course, you don't just have to buy it for yourself -- you can buy it for other InformedTrades members as well! Select the gift option to give a friend of yours some InformedGold. You'll have the option to send it anonymously, or to include a personalized message as well. 3. Of course, InformedGold fluctuates in price, and you're able to cash out at any time. To cash out, simply go to Your Assets and select the Return option (note that you can also send InformedGold as a gift from your inventory page as well). Please note that it may take up to 24 hours for your account records to be properly updated. Initially, your records may be a bit off, but each return is reviewed within 24 hours so a correction will be made promptly. What's InformedGold For? 1. InformedGold is meant to be a fun way to learn about earning money, saving, and investing. It can be thought of as a game that helps advance our mission statement. 2. It's not for active trading! If you're looking for active gold trading, check out brokers like ThinkOrSwim, Apex Futures, or gold specialist Bullion Vault. 3. It's not for storing your life savings! While InformedGold is backed by gold stored in vaults located around the world with Bullion Vault, I do not recommend it as a long-term and serious store of wealth. If you have a larger amount of capital you are looking to put into gold, I personally recommend setting up an account with Bullion Vault, a rare gold broker that can satisfy a paranoid gold bug like myself. InformedGold is meant primarily as a recreational and educational tool. Click here to buy InformedGold.

no shorting at this point via the informedtrades store, although members are free to work out any trades they'd like amongst themselves.
for those looking to short gold, you will be able to cash in your informedpoints for a funded trading account that will let you short gold. more on that shortly.

Hi Simit!
This is really great, Im proud to be one member of this community ![]() Just a quick question: I can buy Gold and then turn it back to informedpoints anytime? Like if I think Gold will go up in the next months, I buy x number of informedgold and then after the move to the upwards in the price of gold, I can sell my InformedGold and Buy again InformedPoints to see a extra profit? Thanks, see you around!

hi ruben,
yes, you are correct -- if you think gold will go up, you can buy informedgold. of course, if gold goes down, your informedgold will go down too. it is not for daytrading, though, as the spread is too wide for that. but it is good for capturing larger moves that may occur over weeks or months.

Hey Simit,
I can't find the "return" option on the drop down bar. I trashed one fund and lost one share without having my dear points increase LOL. How do i sell then? Forexer

hey forexer,
i temporarily disabled the return function. for now, anyone who wants to sell can simply send me a PM. i'll take care of the accidental trashing for you, and will give you the points so you can cash out on your trade.
