how could a system be sucessful going long and not going with the trend .?

so it would be reasonable to think every sucessful system HAS to go with the trend .?

a system of selling uncovered options and investing in inverse etf , would be an obvious example , of going away from an uptrend .

someone help me understand this , if im wrong .

There are many successful counter trend stategies. Some traders find them easier.
Usually it is easier to swim in the direction of the current, but some traders swim upstream.

Hi there,

you can sell uncovered options and invest in invers etfs and still be going with the trend.

Also, reversals within a larger trend is a common strategy. The probabilities tend to to be higher if it's a counter trend reversal I'm the direction of a larger trend.
