Hi Trend

I use the free version of Prorealtime, and I am very happy with it (the free version is the same as the pay version, but without real time charts).
You can check out end of day data for free. It has lots of features, but the one I like the best (the one that makes me use it on a daily basis) is that you can set it up with as many personal lists of securities (really of anything in any market).

What I do is I tile 4 charts of different time periods (so I see all 4 at once) and have them all connected (I have it saved like this so it boots up this way).
Then I just have to hover my mouse over my watch list and scroll down, and the charts scroll through my list very fast (I don't even have to click). I can go through a watch list very fast each night.

Dave has a free course on using Prorealtime with a link to download the free version here-
Prorealtime Charts - InformedTrades

I haven't used Tradestation, but I have heard it is nice as well. I think they offer a 30 day free trial, but the only link I found was a 30 day trial to use them as a broker.

Cheers
Tek

Thanks Tek,

Next week i'll start using TradeStation for a period of 14 days. i'll receive a training on how to use it so i'll be able to give you some feedbacks. I am mostly using metatrader as a secondary platform for my TA. Wiht the new rules the NFA released this week i am afraid many US brokers that offered MT4 as a possible platform will be forced to get rid of it alas.

Hi trend,
As of now, those on Metatrader will be forced to move their accounts overseas, or switch platforms after this month. It is discussed some on this thread-

Hey Tek
Can you use 4h charts on the free version of prorealtime? I have it too, though I havent real had the time to look through it much, but on my charts everything bellow daily bars is shaded grey, so I cant use it.

Thanks

Hi Corona

Not on the free version. You can only view daily charts.
What I do is set up 4 daily charts with different time periods; by this I mean a different number of bars displayed- they are all daily charts but one shows 25 candles (a close up look), one shows 50 candles (a bit father away), one shows 100, and one shows 200 (longer views). Works really well that way.

Cheers

Tek, what timeframe do you target when you trade ? If it's lower than daily why do you need to look at the daily ?

Hi Trend
I swing trade stocks. I usually hold from 2 days to a couple of weeks.
I do daytrade a little, but I am a better swing trader when it comes to stocks.

Cheers

prorealtime is so much better than tradestation. you can put alerts on diagonal lines on prorealtime. which is such a basic function. i can't believe tradestation doesn't have it.
