Hello all,

I was curious about an application idea...I did not know where to ask the question, so decided to start a thread about it...

question:

Is it possible to collapse my blog posts so just the title is shown??

The reason for this is because I post a lot of charts directly on my blog...one post could take up literally the whole page...To see earlier posts,one has too go on to a completely different page,which all to often is an incovenience for viewers...

...If the posts were collapsed as Ive described,it would give the viewer the ability to see (at-a-glance) possibly 25 to 50 of my previous posts all on the first page...If the title interests the viewer,they can simply click on the title and the posts would uncollapse so to speak...some titles may be stock symbols or currency pairs for example...

...What I am suggesting could be a very powerful addition to this site in terms of user-friendliness...

...I eventually would like to start a forum here where anyone can share their thoughts/charts...instead of just being able to comment to me on my blog...
The collapsable posts idea would be just as relevant in an open forum environement...

...any feedback or comments would be highly appreciated...thank you...

i see what you are saying and agree it would be an interface improvement, an area we can do quite a bit about. i'm in the process of compiling a list of changes that everyone wants, from there we can prioritize and proceed accordingly.

regarding posting charts in a forum, you can do that in our trader's discussion forum if you'd like.

...another possible application is some feature that lets us know when someone replies to one of our public posts...(there is a private message section on top that lets us know our unread & total messages status...)

...for instance, yesterday I replied to a question on my blog...the person came back today and asked me the same question because he never knew that I had replied to him...IMO, the public message notification is extremely important,& maybe even more so than the collapsable post idea...

...I also wanted to express gratitude to you guys for creating this community...it has a lot of potential (which is why I joined)...

...I understand that the message board programming isnt as simple as flipping a switch...It takes a lot of energy & work,& isnt always easy...you guys are charged with determining which applications to implement which will give the user the best possible experience in terms of user-friendliness...

...I have the potential to serve as a major ambassador here...I have a very good following across the net...most are hard-core traders...in order to draw them here there are a few features that must be added...I am reluctant to share this site with them for now,because first impressions are forever...

...I like this sites concept and have a really good feeling about its future...

Hi Charles,

The blog section is still very new and still being worked out. Our goal is that eventually each blog will be more like a mini trading site, with all the blogs woven together like a web.

Other goals is to allow members to be able to customize Informed Trades. That way each user limit the information they receive and filter out the rest (for instance, if you trade futures, perhaps you might want only information regarding futures and skip info on stocks and forex). We feel that Informed Trades is at a major turning point and fairly soon will be large enough that one person simply will not be able to view it all.

Other changes we hope to include are expanding Informed Points, seminars with guest speakers, we have a chat room we just put up and are trying out, we have Shoot's Pro Course about to be released, and lots of other things.

I sent a PM to Simit again so he can comment on the request of changes you made.

If you have not done so, check out the Free Course section above- we have some awesome videos. (I know you are a professional trader and probably do not need to view these for yourself, but they are great, they are free, and perhaps you know someone who might benefit from them).

...I can sense a much bigger picture brewing here...& I completely understand as I almost started a site myself...This site will serve for all and commit to no one single market or analysis...thats the beauty of it ,imho...

...there are many trader's desires that some site must attempt to fulfill (your futures traders vs.stock & forex analogy was spot on)...there are unlimited ideas that different people bring to the board...for instance...someone might come along & start a section on IT that makes videos (that are duplicated & then translated into different languages)...bringing an untapped audience that could potentially rival even that of which Facebook could bring (in terms of members)...

...an international community which consists of many different languages & cultures, outside of just the english speaking members/traders/students of our world...the one language that brings everyone in unison.. is, as it always has been, mathematics...

...I will check out the videos soon...Ive seen/appreciated some of the videos already...it doesnt matter how much we learn, we are all, always students...

man, you totally got the vision! that delights me to no end.

i started a discussion on my blog to make a "technology wishlist" -- basically listing what features people want. all are encouraged to share their thoughts in that thread; once we know what community members want we can prioritize accordingly.
