Default Thinkorswim "Analyze" Tab

TOS has so many functions but their tutorial video unfortunately does not explain everything. I'm trying to figure out how the "Analyze" function work. Does anyone know where I can get info on this, be it video or just some reading material?

Thanks

Default Analyze Tab

The Analyze tab is one of the most powerful tabs in TOS; I use it all the time.
It allows you to simulate trades, back test, look at risk profiles, and much more.

Here is a great tutorial that will walk you through how to use it:
Learning Center

After you click on the link if you look at the top, you will see an "Analyze" tab, the tutorials you are looking for are located there.

If you need any further assistance, just reply, and I would be glad to help.

Also, another TOS gem is there software support page:
https://www.thinkorswim.com/tos/disp...layFormat=hide

Search what you are looking for and it usually brings up a nice tutorial. One word searches yield the best result in my opinion
I personally learned how to use the technical goodies of TOS this way.

Seetch,

You might want to contact TOS Customer Service to inquire. You can contact them via chat if you unable to get them on the phone. I am a TOS customer and I've found their Customer Service to be very helpful. The reps are patient and knowledgeable. (I've never been able to get anyone on the phone, but, on chat, someone answers within a few minutes.)

Default using the Analyze Tab

I have been with TOS and have used the Analyze Tab for 4 years - and I love it! So here are some thoughts I hope you find useful:

1. Spreadsheets are great - IF you know how to make them. The learning curve can be slow, but once you have it, you know it saves you tons of time every time you use it. So, the effort is worth the reward. The Analyze Tab is a powerful piece of software. If yourself a break from the daily grind of trading and take the time to learn to use this software. Don't rush. Learn.

2. Watch Tom Preston's 88 minute video previously mentioned in the thread. As he points out features (which may have changed slightly), pause the video and try it yourself on the Analyze Tab.

3. Make quick notes of things the Analyze Tab features do. Under the note, make a note or two to yourself on HOW YOU would use THAT feature to your advantage. If you can't think of anything, still leave some space. If you can't think of the usefullness of the feature, either you have not made the connection in your thinking OR there is something about option's trading you have not learned yet. These are the features you might want to call or chat with others about. You need to learn the underlying concept that is causing the issue.

4. Practice. Add a simulated trade. Ask yourself "what if" questions. Use the Analyze Tab to answer the questions. That's one way of outlining a plan of action on a trade you want to take. If I get in, what's my break even? What's the probabilites of making money on the trade? If the trade goes against me, where would I get out? Could I "fix" the trade if it goes bad? If so, how? The Analyze Tab can help you do all this.

5. Good luck!
