Hi Graham,

Glad to hear from you and thanks for the compliment I am glad you like the videos.

I am not familiar with this company but I had a look at their website and it looks like they are based in Cyprus. I personally would not trade with any firm located in Cyprus as to my knowledge there is no regulation there in place to protect client funds.

I personally recommend FXCM and one of the reasons why is that they have offices in the US, UK, Hong Kong, Japan, and Australia which all have a solid regulatory framework in place to protect client funds. For some of the other reasons why I recommend them see the video below:

For more on the factors that I personally recommend checking out when looking for a forex broker see module 8 of my free forex course which you can find at the link below:

Hope that helps.

Best Regards,
Dave

Hi Graham and David

Hope this helps but the Company (Euroorient Securities and Financial Services Limited) who owns FXPro is actually registered with the FSA in the UK as well as the link FSA Register shows

They have only been regisitered since January 2008, but no disciplinary actions to date.

Regards

Graeme

Default Problems getting started

Hi all,
I have been going through David's courses and am learning a lot. He makes the learning process painless and I am very grateful to him. I am a beginner at forex but my goal is to progress to the point that I can supplement my retirement income. I have installed the FXCM demo platform and have been following along on it with David's forex course.

I have run into a potential roadblock - I can't log in to the FXCM platform at times and, when I do log in, I occasionally don't have access to the charts. I have contacted FXCM and they have told me that the reason is that I am connected through a satellite IP, Wild Blue, and their platform will not work reliably through a satellite. Although I am certainly no expert on internet connections, this doesn't seem logical. I understand the latency issues involved in satellite communications but it doesn't seem that would keep the software from working. This is the only connection option where I live. Since forex trading seems to potentially require quick trading reactions, it seems that this could be an expensive problem.

If anyone has experienced similiar problems or, conversely, if anybody is trading reliably through a satellite connection, I would love to hear from them. If not, is there another way to get the required info and be able to trade quickly?

Thanks

Hi lepelton

I am not sure if this helps, but the FXCM platform is not availble from Fri afternoon until sunday afternoon, so if it was during those times, that would be the problem.

Cheers

Hi lepelton,

Glad to hear from you and welcome to the community.

I am not sure exactly why either but there is something about the way that a satellite internet connection sends and receives data that causes problems with the FXCM Platform.

With this in mind what I would recommend is trying out Oanda's platform as it is web based which may make a difference. If you do try it out or find another solution if you would not mind letting us know I would appreciate it so we will know what to tell people if others run into this same issue.

Best Regards,
Dave
