Default Setting Up for the Beginner

Hi Dave,

I've looked around your site and I may be wrong but I don't see any info on exactly what is needed to start trading online and how to go about getting it. ( Charting, Feeds,Broker) I would like to set up a paper trading account to begin with but I'm not sure the best route to take. Can you help?

Thanks!
Dave

Hi Dave,

Welcome to the community. We will be putting together a more comprehensive section on this in the future but here are a couple of starting points for you which I think may help:

Choosing a broker:

New to Trading Which Platform to Use?

Choosing a charting package:

Software

If you have questions after going through those threads feel free to post them. After you do get set up I would appreciate it if you wouldn't mind posting any feedback that you have about the firms that you chose as well.
Best Regards,
Dave

Default Free Real time quoter

I appreciate all the information you and the other members have contributed to linking webpages regarding free quoting software. yet, is it possible to find one in which a brokerage system is not necessary to simply practice forecasting patterns.

Thank you,
Vinny

Hi Vinny,

There is no where that I know of that gives you real time data for free except the ones listed in the software post above where you need to pull your broker's feed into the platform in order to have real time quotes.

If you are simply looking to practice however there are many sites that offer free basic charts with delayed data such as Quote.com and Yahoo Finance.

Hope that helps.

Dave
