Trading Journal Software

Hi,

Can anyone share some thoughts on the availability of Trading Journal/Tracker/portfolio management software to track both Stocks and Forex trading. I am preparing my own version of Excel sheet with the key elements that I want to track, but couldn't find any nice product already available. What products that people normally use?

I came across Excel Trading Spreadsheets, Journal and Log for Stock, Futures and Forex traders, which offers excel version. While I find it helpful, I feel it little bit difficult to configure and use. I am surprised that no one offers a product in this category.

Thanks,
Ram

Hey Ram,

Below is a great post on trading journals from TraderMike where he gives you a copy of his trading journal as well as lists some subscription services:

Hi Ram,

I am the creator of the "Excel Trading Spreadsheets..." you mentioned. Hopefully you have been successful in creating your own version. If not, and you are still seeking a product(s) to track your Stock & Forex trading performance, let me know.

I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to YOU and ALL,

Greg Thurman

trade journal

FXCM produces an extensive excel spreadsheet of trade history. Has there been created a spread sheet to plug-in this data as a bases to produce a "scorecard"... crunching these numbers to produce what David has stated to be important to a trade journal?

Hey Dntconcord,

Not that I am aware of but this is something that I am sure a lot of people would be interested in so maybe a project I can take on in the future. If anyone knows of one out there that I am not aware of please share.

Best Regards,
Dave

I currently consider to write an application, which will have a focus on this feature. Check out the link to my forum thread about it.

on the subject of trading journals that folks can use for forex/stocks/futures trading, i wanted to note the trading journal software created by IT member Magic. it's a downloadable application that's pretty powerful.

As far as desktop programs for tracking and documenting trades, I found that both the Trading Journal Spreadsheet by Gator Trader and the Trade Journal Software by AlphaMindSet are both reasonably priced and easy to use. I hope that Quicken by Intuit, Inc. will someday incorporate a trading journal in Quicken for traders that can be integrated with their TurboTax. Currently, Quicken Premiere can track trades, but there's no provision for documenting each transaction in the same manner like the other software I mentioned.

Regards,
StockJock

PS. Google Docs has some basic trading journal type templates.

I didn't find the one I needed on the web so i created my own. Mine is simple and it keeps track of the most important information (No Charts).
You should probably create your own or you could buy mine:
