LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European shares moved off early lows on Wednesday, helped by gains from miners and automakers. Shares in miner Xstrata climbed 7.7%, while shares in French automaker Peugeot advanced 8.1%. The German DAX 30 index rose 0.4% to 4,580.82, the French CAC-40 index lost 0.2% to 3,204.87 and the U.K. FTSE 100 index dipped 0.3% to 4,157.71.
