As we enter the final hour of trading, the FTSE is up 73.88 points (1.6%) after giving up much of this morning's gains.



The UK's blue-chip index opened strongly, up over 2% to 4477.5 by lunchtime, bolstered by the Chinese government’s decision to launch an economy-boosting investment plan last night.
