Hi:

'free charting' - hmm. seems like you'll always have to pay something, even if it's just for historical data. I use sierra charts (Sierra Chart - Description of Software Service Levels) which have different levels of pricing depending on the features you intend using; it's certainly no 'rolls-royce' of charting, but is affordable, and is designed to take some of it's intra-day feeds off of some of the broker/dealer platforms out there. (I'm using interactive brokers - and since I already pay for my data feed, it makes sense to use some charting package that'll jack into that feed and chart that, rather than pay twice).
