Default Software

What charting software are you using in your videos. How much does something like that cost, it seems expensive. Are there any free basic charting programs available??? And what about where you gather the data from, is that something that is available for antoher seperate fee besides the actual program or is it just included?? Appreciate any help, Thanks!!

Hi:

'free charting' - hmm. seems like you'll always have to pay something, even if it's just for historical data. I use sierra charts (Sierra Chart - Description of Software Service Levels) which have different levels of pricing depending on the features you intend using; it's certainly no 'rolls-royce' of charting, but is affordable, and is designed to take some of it's intra-day feeds off of some of the broker/dealer platforms out there. (I'm using interactive brokers - and since I already pay for my data feed, it makes sense to use some charting package that'll jack into that feed and chart that, rather than pay twice).

Hi Justin,

The charts that I use in the videos are from Prorealtime.com. One of the reasons why I use them in the videos is that they have a bunch of advanced features available for free with historical data, so people that are new to the markets can practice trading with them without having to pay anything. If you want realtime data you have to pay for the feeds the prices for which are listed on their site.

A have heard good things about the charts seeker mentioned as well.

Best Regards,
Dave

Quote.com has recently put out a charting package called QuoteTrader which is free and I believe comes with real time data as well. Their business model with this package seems to be to support it through advertising so it will be interesting to see if it works. You can learn more about and download the QuoteTrader Package Here.

Additionally they have put out a ton of videos on how to use their software which have been added to the InformedTrades community here.

I have not had the chance to play around with them yet but from the videos they look pretty good.

Has anyone on the board used these and if so what are your thoughts?

Best Regards,
Dave

Here is another free charting package that I have heard good things about from several people called QuoteTracker.com

If anyone has any experience with this package your feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

Default Im researching charting softwares for beginners

I have been researching where a good real time charts could be available, and the QuoteTracker.com is defenitely one of the best. While it used to accept most brokerages and give your streaming info for free, it now currently promotes one company for the end user to start an account with them to get the streaming.

Im trying different software at the moment to see which ones are friendly to people new (like me) to trading. Please message me if you would like a more depth info on what I'm discovering.

The optimal interfaces are the ones that intergrate news, ticker updates, and different trading platforms into one, but these seem customized to the service providers and usually carry a small fee.

Sounds good Pablo I think this thread would benefit from any insight you have so if you would not mind posting it here as you discover that would be great.

Dave

Default It works!

I found a way to get all the charts to work. The provider has a list of several (more than 40) sources that give out streaming data: most require registration but several are accessible for free.

There are several internal sources that also work as a delayed chart source, yet the info is pretty current. (Specifically the US/Canada sites)

I registered with one of the sites to get the streaming info. Also, once you input your stock quotes (regardless if you have the streaming activated) you can 'Right Click' the symbol and get an immediate charts with over 50 indicators instantly from several well known sites (Prophet, bigcharts, mytrack, etc)

Happy charting.

Say.. now that we have this charting opportunity, lets link some good charts and post them to identify patterns and help other 'informed traders' with indicator awareness examples.

Thanks again and best regards,
Dave

Default Delayed

How do delayed sites work? I have several symbols up, but none of them update or show data. I use a different site for indices and it updates those indices. I'm still learning about all this so please be patient with me.
